here is the digital file

bl!k - knockin' it out

Alrighty...here is a quick scan of a Knockout study I did for the bl!k logo thanks to your suggestions in class. I used four version of knockout that I thought provided the most impact/energy and crossed them with 6 different exclamations that had some promise. Not all of the offspring are perfect...but there is hope.

The orange marks represent areas where the kerning still needs to be tweaked to perfection and the green lines indicate the ones I will pursue. I'm gonna go back and revise the ones I like to be kerned better, but I'd like your votes too.

I'll be missing class because I have to travel for work but all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
See you guys in a week or so.

Thanks,
Z

Identity Project

Week 1:
Pick a company...
Type set the hell out of some font choices...
pick a palette
research the demo...

here's what we got:
Company: bl!k
Its an internal group myself and 3 guys from our agency started under a year ago. Media agencies lack any sort of real "creative" teams, so we figured we'd start one to raise the creative baseline and offer some stimulus, etc. The 'business need' we initial were filling was helping account teams sell their ideas better thru storytelling and visual communication in powerpoints, presentations, etc.

Now the group has 3 core offerings:
  1. 360 Training sessions - we teach people how to story tell, build visual presentations and produce graphical work
  2. The Soapbox - A speaker session intended to inspire employees to look outside of our industry for creativity and inspiration
  3. The Playground - A creative space where every surface is meant to be a sketch pad. To provide stimulus and become a resource center for the group.
So the identity for bl!k needs to convey the following ideas:
  • Quirky
  • Personal
  • Resource
  • Professional/Authoritative
  • Innovative/Creative
Some demo info:
Age - 22-60
Gender - Mixed Ratio slight male skew
Region - Mindshare Offices only/Core NY office
Education - College Grad
Income - Varied

Poster Sketches in PSD

Sketch 2: Smile Draft

So came up with four phrases to use for the PSA posters:
The sketches above are just for the smile poster

Facebook me this:
Is a 'poke' really a poke if no one feels it?
If you smile at her profile picture, does she know you like her?
Does posting break walls or build walls?
Does reading a newsfeed count as "staying in touch"?

PSA Sketch Book

Sketch 1: Lots of different, random ideas
- Bboy Event
- Don't wear Sunglasses in the club
- Brown Blogging
- Facebook-misconceptions

I chose the last one - the humor of FB-isms

PSA Posters

So here goes...

The hardest thing I think tends to be coming up with a concept that is inspiring enough...
You'll see some scans from my sketch book and the developing concepts.

The concept I landed on stems from the hilarity of social networking and how its making communication more accessible, but also more impersonal. I work in media and we see the fragmentation of the digital space...anyways...shop talking aside...

hit me with some feedback

thanks
